Financial Education Benefits Center Reminds Members to Address Stress Through Healthy Habits

Stress can be a great motivator; for example, there’s nothing like stress to speed up production to meet a deadline. However, that stress can also have negative side effects that can hinder production. And when it’s brought home, it can affect a relationship. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits company specializing in health and financial wellness, reminds members that they have access to doctors and other resources to deal with stress.

Stress has been shown to result in physical symptoms and can be as bad on the body as a poor diet. It can have a lasting impact on heart and lung health. A recent report has even suggested that stress may be contagious.

Stress seems to be a part of daily life, but if it gets to be too much it shouldn't go untreated.

Jennifer Martinez, Manager at FEBC

“Stress seems to be a part of daily life, but if it gets to be too much it shouldn’t go untreated,” said Jennifer Martinez, Manager at FEBC. “Especially if it can be passed to family members, it’s in the best interest of everyone to address that stress and try to reduce it when possible.”

Many techniques for reducing stress involve plain old healthy habits, such as exercising, getting enough quality sleep, eating healthy, and relaxing body and mind. Exercise could mean a cardio workout, or it could mean strength training. Many find that yoga provides exercise, relaxation, and meditative qualities. Others may find relaxation through massage or turn to acupuncture to relieve stress.

FEBC members have access to a variety of benefits that support their journey to relieve stress, including access by phone or email to certified doctors who can answer questions about nutrition and exercise, and discounts on alternative medicine like massages and acupuncture.

When additional support is necessary, eligible FEBC members also have access to a counseling benefit in which they can discuss what’s behind their stress with certified counselors. Members can share all these benefits with family members at no additional cost to foster a home environment with minimal stress.

“FEBC members have plenty of resources to address their stress. They just have to log in to their account to see all their options,” said Martinez. “Our focus is on health and wellness, and stress is a major obstacle to that. We hope that our members find these benefits useful in relieving stress to improve their lives.”
