Financial Education Benefits Center Reveals New Medical Imaging Benefit
SAN RAMON, Calif., February 14, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Whether trying to diagnose an illness or monitoring a known problem, medical imaging is a key tool in modern healthcare. While experts warn against excessive imaging because of radiation risk, among other factors, a scan may be necessary to address a medical issue. However, medical imaging can be very expensive for the patient. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits company, is offering a new suite of health and wellness benefits, including discounts on and assistance in coordinating MRI and CT scans.
“Getting the quote for the price of an MRI, for example, can be a shocking experience,” said Jennifer Martinez, Manager at FEBC. “That’s why the new medical imaging benefit can be so useful for people who have to undergo a scan. And this benefit is part of a larger package of health and wellness benefits, including more discounts.”

Since healthcare costs vary widely between providers, insurers, and geographic areas, it’s difficult to say how much MRI and CT scans typically cost without discounts. However, MRI prices are known to be anywhere between several hundred dollars to upwards of $3,000. Similarly, CT scan prices can be between a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars per scan. Given those estimates, even lower-priced scans can be prohibitively expensive for many Americans.
To obtain the discounts, FEBC members call and receive assistance in scheduling an appointment with participating providers. Once the appointment is scheduled, they present their discount code and pay ahead of time, so no payment is due at the actual appointment.
This benefit is for FEBC members who have an order from their doctor for an MRI or CT scan. Please also note: this benefit is not insurance, nor is it intended to replace insurance.
“The benefit is something we hope will help make a potentially stressful experience a little less so,” said Martinez. “And if we make access to important care easier for our members, we have achieved something good.”
