Finding a Thousand Female Geniuses
Online, December 16, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Education4Sale.com, the nation's leading online microtutoring platform, announced today it's 1000 Brilliant Women outreach program. With this program, Education4Sale hopes to provide both the means and the encouragement that will help at-risk young women succeed in math and science.
The 1000 Brilliant Women program hopes to attract women who excel in math and science, including those studying math and science in college and graduate school, and connect them with women who face low expectations and lack of resources. This will be done using online microtutoring: multiple short tutoring sessions via Skype or Google Video Chat.
According Arvin Vohra, Education4Sale's Director of Tutoring, "Students with means, who have parents who excel at math, or access to daily tutors, can get help whenever they need it. Other student's cannot, and when faced with a tough math problem and low expectations, they often just give up. Microtutoring can change that. That student, who might not be able to afford $60 for a tutoring session, might be able to spend 5 dollars on a Microtutoring session at the critical moment. And students who can afford $50 per week have the option of ten 5 minute sessions right when the need them, instead of one session when they may or may not need one"
Education4Sale hopes that the outreach program will eventually allow even busy math professors, engineers, and physicists to reach at-risk women. "Even the busiest math professor can spare 5 minutes a week to help a student out online," Vohra adds.
Education4Sale is an online service that connects tutors with students, and uses an innovative way to make online transactions safe. Students deposit money before the tutoring session begins, and release the funds to the educator once the tutoring session ends.
