First HVAC Company Becomes Autism Certified to Help Serve Families Better

Norris Air is the first HVAC company in the country to earn the Certified Autism Center designation™ (CAC), granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). Completing the program means that Norris Air staff is now better equipped to engage with families and individuals with autism or other sensory needs.

Norris Air is a family-owned business offering air conditioning and heating system installation, maintenance and repair since 1973. They are joining an expanding group of organizations that are becoming certified as part of an initiative started by Visit Mesa to further that community’s goal to become the most autism-inclusive in the world.

“Becoming a certified professional reflects Norris Air’s determination to offer exemplary customer service and ensure a positive experience for all of our customers. Knowing that we have the certification to work with those who are on the autism spectrum makes our days even brighter as we are in and around their homes servicing their heating and cooling systems,” said Paula Norris, owner and CEO. “For Norris Air, it’s more than just offering technical service and support. We truly do put our customers’ well-being first.”

For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for healthcare, education, travel and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES has been working with Visit Mesa, the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and other community stakeholders to train and certify a variety of businesses in Mesa and the surrounding areas to ensure individuals with autism or sensory needs have a positive experience with professionals they encounter in all facets of their lives.

“Having a forward-thinking company like Norris Air take the lead for their industry by seeking IBCCES’ professional training and certification is very exciting. This is wonderful news for the individuals, families and organizations served by Norris Air,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.
