LONDON, December 12, 2018 (Newswire.com) - UK startup fixed.net has secured a further £500,000 investment to expand their revolutionary website support and maintenance offering. The platform provides “support as a service”: task-based help, either for a fixed fee or on a monthly rolling subscription. Fixed.net removes the need for site owners to rely on ad-hoc developers or their hosting helpline.
Most fixed.net customers are frustrated by the lack of assistance offered by their hosting provider and spend many hours per week diagnosing bugs and handling routine site jobs themselves. Tighter margins and consolidation have meant that bundled hosting support has become squeezed, or is now seen as a revenue driver. This is to the detriment of the customer, who may have to deal themselves with the consequences of a slow website, malware defacement, or complex website migration.
In 2004, Seb de Lemos and Dominic Taylor founded Paragon Internet Group, which ran brands including Tsohost. They achieved rapid growth through word of mouth; building a global company centred around customer service. However, they recognised that the support desk should not be a cost centre, but an asset in itself.
After the company was acquired in 2017 by GoDaddy, the pair started fixed.net. With a team of global experts, fixed.net aims to resolve the majority of website issues within two hours. Specifically, fixed.net has a number of dedicated WordPress developers on its team.
The latest investment will be used to develop value-added features such as inclusive website backups, monitoring, and automatic security patching. Dominic Taylor, leading the backup team, says: “We don’t think website owners should be relying on their hosts to back up their website, so we worked out a way for website owners to simply and efficiently back up their website for free, even without a subscription. We only charge if the customer needs to do a restore.” Many backup features are already available by signing up for an account at fixed.net.
