Flame Run Presents Kid Friendly Glass Art Carnival

Flame Run hosts a kid-friendly exhibit to introduce children to contemporary art glass

Flame Run Glass Studio and Gallery will introduce children to the wonders of contemporary art glass and raise money for Children's Hospital Foundation with "The Glass Carnival" from June 3 through July 30.

Children are invited to an opening day kid-friendly reception from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 4.

The show will include glass art that kids recognize and appreciate as well as ice cream vendors, balloon animals, face-painting, and giant (four-feet tall) popsicles at the Flame Run entrance.

"I wanted art that a five-year-old could get excited about," said Flame Run owner Brook Forrest White Jr.

Proceeds from the show (10 percent of all sales) will benefit Children's Hospital Foundation. White's twins, Aubrey and Chrisler, were born prematurely and spent two months in the neonatal intensive care unit at Norton Suburban Hospital. They have been treated by doctors from Kosair Children's Hospital since then. "We've always had a special place in our heart for Kosair," White said.

Steve Scherer will do a flame-working demonstration and Carrie Battista will do a hot glass demonstration.

Confirmed artists include: Amy Pender, David Fox, Devyn Baron, Eoin Breadon, Rik Allen, Shelley Muzylowski Allen, Jake Pfeifer, Paul Nelson, John Miller, Tiffany Zink, Brook F. White, Jr., TIffany Ackerman, Jeanne Nelson, Jessica See, John Moran, Jason Chakravarty, John Capps, Steve Scherer, Eddie Bernard, Matthew Urban, Carrie Battista, Amy Rueffert, Amanda Patenaude, Gillian Preston
