Float Hopes Scholarship™: Advantaging Those In Our Community to Succeed

Treasure Coast Swimming announces that Jeffrey Powers of Vero Beach Florida has created the Float Hope Scholarship for Disadvantaged Swimmers.

Jeffrey Powers, Vero Beach FL, initiated a pledge for a perpetuating scholarship that will allow disadvantaged youth to have the opportunity to swim at Treasure Coast Swimming.  TCS has been a long tenured swim program based in Indian River County Florida, which is associated with USA Swimming and Florida Swimming.  Scott Barlow has been coaching for more than 25 years and is a resident of Vero Beach.   Scott, his wife Holly and staff teach swimming at all levels.  “Float Hopes Scholarship™ for the disadvantaged youth will be funded annually” says Jeffrey Powers.  The motivation for the scholarship comes from Jeffrey witnessing that Vero Beach and Sebastian in 2012 were the two highest cities with the greatest disparity of wealth in the United States. Jeff states that “swimming has been a strength that contributed to my success and the lessons learned should be available to our youth to advantage them with very strong life skills.” The scholarship has been established to provide assistance to the less fortunate swimmers that show promise, integrity and commitment to attend practice requirements.
