Massachusetts company chosen to provide emergency power maintenance along crucial New Jersey toll roads

FM Generator of Canton, MA wins New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway emergency power contracts

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority today awarded FM Generator of Canton (www.fmgenerator.com) a contract to maintain the 153 generators that provide emergency power to rest areas, fueling stations, toll booths and maintenance facilities along the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway.

Backup power along the 122-mile Turnpike and 172-mile Parkway emerged as a critical issue during Hurricane Sandy, when power at hundreds of local fueling stations was knocked out, forcing public safety vehicles and civilian motorists to utilize the toll roads' fueling facilities.

"We're honored to receive this important contract and we will be on the job 24/7 to make sure every element of the Turnpike and Parkway stays powered," FM Generator owner Michael Molway said.

FM Generator has eight full-time employees in New Jersey who will execute an "aggressive and proactive maintenance schedule" of the Authority's generators, Molway said.

FM Generator in 2011 received a New Jersey state contract to provide emergency power maintenance at police stations, hospital, prisons and other state and municipal facilities. The company played a major role in maintaining power at cell phone towers along the New Jersey coast following Hurricane Sandy.

FM Generator is a full-line distributor of generator sets for industry, municipalities and private uses. FM installs, operates and maintains generators of all sizes and uses. The company is headquartered in Canton, MA and has offices in Springfield, MA, Burlington, NC, Greer, SC and Lynchburg, VA.
