Food for Thought From Beacon Hill

On the Move with Dementia

Food for Thought

Beacon Hill at Eastgate, an acclaimed retirement community devoted to the complete spectrum of senior care, announces a brand new “Lunch & Learn” series beginning on April 18.

Current Beacon Hill offerings include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care. This upcoming educational series will highlight memory care topics that address the specific challenges facing seniors with dementia and other cognitive issues.

Today, over five million Americans are living with age-related dementias. These numbers are expected to increase each year, reaching 15 million by the year 2060.

“We’re working toward helping this growing segment of seniors — and their caregivers — gather the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their future. Because when it comes to memory care, knowledge truly is power,” reports Ann Flynn of Beacon Hill’s Memory Care Program.

The first Food for Thought event will be led by Lisa Kuhn, senior move manager of Pathway Movers. The topic of discussion will hone in on the delicate nature of relocating people diagnosed with dementia and other forms of memory loss.

“We have a beginning-to-end management process that makes this highly sensitive and complex situation as stress-free as possible. Our approach is truly unique in that it delivers the moving support our clients need from a physical, organizational and emotional standpoint. It’s truly 360-degree moving care.” ~ Lisa Kuhn, Senior Move Manager of Pathway Movers.

The upcoming April 18 Food For Thought “Lunch & Learn” titled “Moving a Loved One With Dementia” will take place at Beacon Hill at Eastgate. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m., with lunch following at noon in the Community House Auditorium. Visit https://beaconhillevents.org to register and reserve a spot today.
