FOOD Share Shines Light on Growing Need, Hosts Holiday Open House on Dec. 21
Actress Jane Leeves returns with her family to Ventura County to lend Hollywood voice to regional food bank's Tackle Hunger Campaign
Online, December 16, 2010 (Newswire.com) - In support of their annual Tackle Hunger food campaign and as a way to thank the community for their ongoing generous support, FOOD Share will host an open house and evening of holiday family fun from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.
"The donations of non-perishable food items and cash funding from local businesses, residents and community members this holiday season has been a tremendous help," said Bonnie Weigel, CEO of FOOD Share. "Unfortunately, the ranks of those needing assistance in Ventura County are growing and, as a result, we must continue to reach out for additional support to feed more and more hungry friends."
Upon learning that FOOD Share is now feeding more than 73,000 people each month, actress Jane Leeves, best known for her role as Daphne in the hit sitcom, "Frasier," and currently co-starring in "Hot In Cleveland," and Ron Lewis, her partner in Tellurian Naturals and their families will return to FOOD Share to make an additional donation to the food bank of $250,000 worth of products from their Ventura County based natural skin and baby care line, Tellurian.
On Dec. 21, the public is invited to stop by FOOD Share's Oxnard headquarters at 4156 Southbank Road, meet Jane Leeves, donate non-perishable food items and enjoy music, cookies, hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa. Donations are also being collected at more than 70 local Farmers Insurance agent locations throughout Ventura County.
"We are now feeding 12,000 more friends and neighbors a month than just a few months ago," said Weigel. "There is still so much work to be done."
