FoodLink® Partners with Leading Supply Chain Research Organization
A new collaborative research initiative between FoodLink Online and Penn State University aims for new insights into opportunities and best practices in bringing fresh food to market.
Online, September 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - FoodLink®, the online network for fresh food retailers, wholesalers and suppliers, has joined with the Center for Supply Chain Research (CSCR) at Penn State University to investigate best practices and opportunities for success in the perishable goods retail supply chain.
CSCR provides research, education programs, symposia, benchmarking, and workshops for executive management and leadership. The Center also supports Penn State and the Smeal College of Business in achieving research and education excellence in supply chain and information systems while integrating the college into the broader business community. The Penn State Smeal College of Business is consistently ranked No. 1 in undergraduate and graduate programs in supply chain management in the country, according to a new report from Gartner.
"Every day, FoodLink connects thousands of buyers, sellers and carriers across the perishable goods supply chain," said Kevin Brooks, Chief Marketing Officer, FoodLink. "Partnering with leading research organizations such as the CSCR will help us bring more strategic benefits to our customers and raise the overall level of industry knowledge about this important industry."
FoodLink is an online network that connects all of the participants in the fragmented perishable goods supply chain. The network consists of more than 2,000 retail grocers and their fresh food suppliers, including carriers and third-party brokers and wholesalers. The network helps retailers manage the fresh food category to source the highest quality products at competitive prices while reducing waste and inefficiencies between suppliers and buyers that contribute to higher food costs. For suppliers, FoodLink is a sales platform that simplifies the process of managing orders, tracking shipments, responding to change requests, and receiving payment.
