For A Chance At Love, Greensboro Couples Use Mobile Gaming Technology
Online, March 24, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Buying an engagement ring can be a daunting task. But instead of letting the cost of a diamond ring put their engagement on hold, local Greensboro couples now have a new way to find a ring to put on her finger this weekend.
They're using location-based, mobile gaming technology.
"We wanted to do something for the community that nobody else was doing" said Lindsey Kirby, Marketing Director from Fink's Jewelers. "By embracing this new technology, we're able to give away a beautiful diamond ring in a way that's fun for everyone."
Fink's Jewelers is the first Greensboro jeweler to partner with the Google-backed mobile gaming company, SCVNGR. By developing a location-based game accessible via mobile phone, Fink's is giving couples the ability to follow clues from their cell phones throughout the city in search of a $15,000 RITANI diamond ring hidden somewhere in downtown Greensboro.
Starting at 11am this Saturday, local couples will gather at Center City Park to begin their quest. Played entirely on-foot, couples will work together to decipher the clues sent to their cell phones at different locations around Greenboro. By 2pm, participants will report to Kress Terrace for an after party where the winning couple will be awarding the $15,000 RITANI diamond ring.
To sign up for a chance to find the ring, couples have been asked to submit their love stories at www.GreensboroDiamondDash.com. The diamond ring to be hidden is currently on display at Fink's Jewelers along with details on how to play. Fink's Jewelers is located at 1951 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro.
