For Four Months of 2011 Ukraine Produced 207, 868 Million Kilowatt*hours of "Green" Electricity

In January-April 2011 the renewable energy businesses of Ukraine produced 207.868 million kilowatt-hours of electricity that they sold to the SE Energorynok for "green" tariff.

Such data are contained in the monthly report of the Association of Alternative Fuels and Energy Market Participants of Ukraine (APEU ).

According to the data of APEU , the "green" generation is 0.33% of total electricity, which was sold at the regulated tariff of power generation companies of Ukraine for four months of the current year.

Among the areas of renewable energy, in which the enterprises are engaged for "green" tariff, according to APEU, the highest amount of electricity in January-April 2011 was produced by enterprises of small hydropower (176 268.52 thousand kWh), the Ukrainian Wind Power representing the state-owned enterprises (27 009.37 thousand kWh) took the second place, the biopower industry (2,503 thousand kWh) took the third place. According to the results of the four months the solar energy with the exponent of 2,087 thousand kWh took the last place.

"In 2011, the Solar and Bioenergy in Ukraine first came at the level of the industrial-scale generation, but the total amount of renewable electricity is still less than half a percent of total energy of the country. The paces of implementation of alternative energy projects don't allow to predict the achievement of ambitious performance of 10% by 2015, on which Ukraine focuses ", - said Vitaliy Daviy, President of the Association of Alternative Fuels and Energy Market Participants of Ukraine, Director of Fuel Alternative.

According to him, the implementation of most projects in renewable energy announced to the implementation is delayed. It is primarily related to the fact that the foreign companies study the investment climate in Ukraine, while the biggest Ukrainian business mostly focuses on industries such as agriculture, metallurgy, petrochemical, mining and extractive industries.

" The small and medium businesse can become the engine for development of renewable energy, now this business shows a significant activity in implementation of promising local projects. However, today there are some obstacles, which can prevent the above enterprises from taking advantages from this segment for Alternative Energy Tax Code and Ukrainian legislation ", - says Sergey Apalkov, Director of Foreign Economic Activity, APEU, Director of TH Business Format.

In order to accelerate the development of alternative energy in Ukraine and to solve the problems concerning project development in Ukraine, the APEU and Fuel Alternative are preparing the documents for the third Ukrainian Renewable Energy Forum REF-2011 (October 17-18, 2011, Kiev, Hotel InterContinental) under the aegis of the international Professional Associations.
