For International Women's Day, World Pulse Launches a New Digital Impact Campaign to Rally Women Transforming Technology

To celebrate International Women's Day (March 8), World Pulse — a women-led social network — is crowdsourcing women's voices globally to shape the future of technology. Ideas shared within the campaign will be presented to the United Nations, technology leaders, and policymakers to ensure women have a voice in the global technology conversation.

World Pulse, a women-led social network, today announced a partnership with Vodafone Americas Foundation, a corporate foundation focused on empowering women and girls through technology, Equals, a global coalition closing the gender digital divide, and other international women’s rights networks want to make sure women have a voice as technology continues to transform our society.

As part of the announced partnership and timed with International Women’s Day on March 8, World Pulse will launch a digital impact campaign, titled #SheTransformsTech, to give women all over the world the opportunity to share ideas, concepts, and potential initiatives that showcase how women are using technology to transform society.

The crowdsourced ideas from the campaign will be packaged together into a comprehensive recommendation that will be delivered to global decision-makers, technology leaders, and the United Nations as one of the inputs into the Beijing+25 #GenerationEquality campaign.

“With #SheTransformsTech, we can speed up women’s global progress and kickstart a surge of women's collective power activated through technology and grassroots advocacy in communities across the world,” said Jensine Larsen, founder and CEO of World Pulse. “In 10 years, we will look back at the 2020s as the turning point to gender equality. It's time for women-led initiatives to rise and present an alternative path to the big tech empires and to transform the technology industry for gender equity.”

Campaign partners include Equals.org, Vodafone Americas Foundation, Collective Impact Partnership, Digital Impact Alliance, Technovation, TakeBackTheTech, SurveyMonkey, Equinix, Hispanics in Philanthropy, and more.

“Our goal is to support organizations that are empowering women and girls on a global level and this World Pulse initiative is a great example of how we can rally voices on this important issue,” said June Sugiyama, Director of Vodafone Americas Foundation. “Women and girls need to have a seat at the global technology agenda table to combat the discrimination and gender bias that may exist within technology today. By using the power of women’s voices, #SheTransformsTech will put this conversation directly in front of leaders and organizations influential in the next era of technology.”
