Ford to Reveal EcoBoost Race Engine at 24 Hours of Daytona
Powering a new-look Daytona Prototype car, Ford Motor Company will be introducing their product-relevant EcoBoost racing engine at the 2014 Rolex 24.
Online, October 9, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Terry's Ford, a local Peotone, IL Ford dealership, is spreading the word to their customers about Ford's plan to bring EcoBoost technology to compete in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship series. The engine is a modified twin-turbo 3.5L V6 EcoBoost that features direct injection and high efficiency technologies. By entering this particular engine in competition, Ford is trying to show that it's perfectly capable of competing and performing at the same level as the V8-heavy engines. EcoBoost technology is dedicated to delivering performance, capability, and efficiency both on and off the track.
The Daytona Prototype vehicle was designed with enhanced Ford production methods along with aerodynamic support from Ford Racing's chief aerodynamicist. This vehicle and the EcoBoost engine won't be making their official debut until the 2014 Rolex 24, but it will actually take on the Daytona track in early October. This is because Ford Racing and Michael Shank Racing are aiming to set a new track record before the actual 2014 Rolex 24. The current track record is held by NASCAR champion Bill Elliot, who achieved a 210.4 mph lap speed,
In order to prepare for this record run, the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine underwent a series of endurance tests at the Ford Dynamometer Lab. A variety of collaborators have been working their hardest to ensure that this engine is not only ready to race, but is prepared to break a track record. With the chance to debut this engine during such a high-visibility event, Ford Motor Company aims to show both racing audiences and Ford enthusiasts alike that EcoBoost technology can set records at a competitive level without sacrificing fuel efficiency or capability.
To experience Ford's EcoBoost engines in an on-road setting, those interested can contact the Terry's Ford sales associates by dialing (888) 832-3250 or stop by the dealership at 363 S. Harlem Avenue in Peotone to schedule a test drive. (http://terrysfordofpeotone.com/ContactUs.aspx)
