Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness, a free program that offers combat stress recovery programming, is expanding its Honorary Board. They announce the addition of Admiral Eric Olson.

“I worked under Admiral Olson’s leadership while on active duty and I know first hand the power of his leadership,” says Ken Falke, chairman and founder of Boulder Crest Retreat. “Admiral Olson is a warrior and understands the importance of our work and will bring a new dimension to our honorary board.”

Admiral Eric T. Olson retired from the United States Navy in 2011 after more than 38 years of military service. He served in special operations units throughout his career, deployed for several contingency operations and commanded at every level. Recognized for both service and valor, his awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star and appointment as an Officer in the French Legion of Honor. Admiral Olson was the first Navy SEAL officer to be promoted to three- and four-star ranks.

Admiral Olson's career culminated as the head of the United States Special Operations Command, where he was responsible for the mission readiness of all Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps special operations forces. In this capacity, he led over 60,000 people and managed an annual budget in excess of ten billion dollars.

“I am honored by this opportunity to join the board. I am looking forward to adding value to Ken and his team in assisting with the healing process for our combat veterans and their family members. I know the struggles our troops and their families are having very well and I am very hopeful that my background and network will help us accomplish our mission and increase the awareness of the very important work being done at Boulder Crest,” said Olson.

Admiral Olson is now an independent consultant who supports a wide range of private and public sector organizations. Among his current endeavors, he is an Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, a Director of Iridium Communications, Inc. and Under Armour, Inc., a Director of the non-profit Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and a senior advisor to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Admiral Olson joins the Honorary Board with: former Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel; former Secretary of the Navy, John Lehman; former Secretary of the Air Force, Michael W. Wynne; two former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General (retired) Henry ‘Hugh’ Shelton, USA, and General (retired) Peter Pace, USMC; Admiral (retired) William Fallon, USN; General (retired) Norton Schwartz; Captain (retired) Charlie Plumb, USN; former NFL star and Vietnam veteran, Rocky Bleier; and Medal of Honor recipient and Master Sergeant (retired) Leroy Petry, USA.
