Foundation Financial Group Gives Time, Funding to Local Food Bank

Online, September 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Last Saturday, 30 Foundation Financial Group employees from the sales division volunteered their time and resources for a philanthropic event benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank in Jacksonville, Fla.

Second Harvest Food Bank's two main missions entail rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to local nonprofit organizations. Originally known as the Nourishment Network at its start in 1979, the food bank helps these nonprofits serve the hungry and provide nutritious meals and healthy snacks to children from low-income families through community-based Kids Cafe sites.

Second Harvest Food Bank is the bridge between surplus food and agencies serving children, families, individuals and senior citizens who are in need. The majority of surplus food would be thrown away without the food bank's existance.

In addition to having 30 employees volunteer for more than four hours, Foundation Financial Group made a significant monetary donation to Second Harvest Food Bank. Financial contributions from individuals, businesses and special events allow the food bank to rescue and store donated food for more than 500 nonprofit organizations in 18 counties across Florida.
