Four Physicians Recognized for Excellence
4 physicians in Bergen County are recognized for excellence and awarded in national guide and magazines this year.
Online, June 23, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Emerson, NJ, 6/20/12 - One medical practice in Bergen County can count four nationally recognized physicians on its roster. Only a small percentage of Bergen County doctors are awarded recognition in national guides and magazines each year. The four Old Hook Medical Associates (OHM) physicians were nominated by fellow physicians in two independent surveys as the best in their specialties.
Key Professional Media, Inc asked doctors in Bergen County to nominate colleagues (not themselves) whom they would choose for their own medical care. After careful vetting and investigation, the list of doctors across 43 specialties was published. On the list are OHM's Steven Rosner, MD, FACR, board-certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and Dr. Theophanis Pavlou, MD, board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, and Sleep Medicine. These outstanding doctors represent the top 1% in the nation.
Castle Connolly also uses a rigorous selection process that includes surveys of thousands of physicians and other healthcare professionals to identify excellent doctors throughout the nation. In addition, a physician-led research team makes thousands of phone calls to speak with hospital executives and leading specialists to identify candidates for the honors. This year only two cardiologists in New Jersey were named to the list including Joel Jacowitz, MD who is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and certified by the Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the National Board of Echocardiography.
In today's fast-changing medical environment, primary care physicians are increasingly recognized as vital team leaders for patients. Mark Dombrowski, MD, board-certified in Family Practice, believes strongly in the tenets of OHM's Patient-Centered Medical Home. Dr. Dombrowski was also recognized by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor and among the best in his specialty.
Dr. Edward Gold, VP and Chief Medical Officer of Old Hook Medical commented: "We congratulate our four recognized physicians, not only for this honor, but for what it means to our patients who know that they will get the very best attention and care from our practice."
Old Hook Medical Associates is a multi-specialty healthcare practice and Patient-Centered Medical Home where primary care, specialty physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals work together under one roof. OHM has been recognized by the National Council for Quality Assurance in three areas: Patient-Centered Medical Home, Diabetes, and Heart/Stroke Care. Through an environment of close cooperation among colleagues, coupled with a cutting edge system of electronic health records, Old Hook Medical delivers outstanding medical care to residents of Bergen and Rockland counties.
