Francis Stevens Education Campus Hosts A Book Fair To Improve Reading Skills and Provide Better Books for Kids and Teachers

Washington DC - based school is hosting an up-and-coming book fair to raise funds for better resources for students' classrooms.

Francis Stevens Education Campus (DCPS) will host a scholastic book fair to raise funds to purchase books for children and teachers. The goal is to raise enough money to provide better literary resources for the school's classrooms and library shelves.

The fair will offer titles from more than 100 publishers at reduced prices for readers of all ages, as well as book readings from political and media figures, to include Washington, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, At-Large Councilmember Kwame R. Brown, WKYS 93.9 FM radio personalities, Shaquanna and EZ Street, and writer/producer Hottywood, of HottywoodHelps.com.

"Time is the one item that we all have that is the most valuable and the most limited. We have to be willing to sacrifice and pitch in for our children because ultimately, it is our children who will benefit." says Desiree McCoy, Francis Stevens Education Campus PTA President.

With the help of the community and education advocates, the school's book fair - themed "Here's To Our Heroes!" - will remind children and adults that reading saves the day. Proceeds from the drive will go to improve FSEC's school library and classroom assets.

"There's a whole world in books. The kind that we create with our imagination; and you can't get any more real than the imagination," says Hottywood, creator and author of HottywoodHelps.com. "When you get a school and community together for any reason, it's a big deal. But when you get them together to fundraise for better resources to improve reading skills, it's powerful. And I'm happy to support such a worthy cause." Hottywood adds.

The book fair will open to both school and community on Monday, October 25-Thursday, October 28 from 10am-10:45am and 12pm-12:45pm and also Tuesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 28 from 3:30pm-5pm.

Francis Stevens Education Campus has a history of serving generations of families with students coming from all four quadrants of the District of Columbia and has been engaging pre-kindergarten through eighth grade pupils in effective instructional planning and teaching since 1927.
