​​​​​​The Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau has long been a community-focused organization that offers unbiased information to various consumer groups that are looking to find hotel and entertainment information in the St. Charles area. Since its inception in 1983, the GSCCVB’s focus has been to deliver qualified destination information to families, individuals and groups that are looking to plan excursions into the St. Charles area.

Summer has arrived, and St. Charles is providing several opportunities throughout the summer to take in some free musical acts. So don’t miss a beat; get out to the parks and nestle into a cozy spot while the music surrounds you.

St. Charles Park District presents “Jammin’ with Jim Gill!”: Hickory Knolls Discovery Center, 3795 Campton Hills Road, St. Charles, IL 60174, 630-413-4393. This musical extravaganza will be held on June 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and will feature the talented and award-winning musician/author Jim Gill and his National Campaign for Play. Strumming catchy melodies with energetic rhythms on his banjo, his distinctive music play for young children will get everyone clapping, dancing, singing and even sneezing along to his silly and inspiring musical games. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. The concert is at 10 a.m. Contact Laura McCoy at 630-413-4393 to register in advance. The event is free, and there is something for everybody. So check it out and schedule some time for family fun.

St. Charles Park District Free Concerts in Lincoln Park: Lincoln Park, Main Street between 4th and 5th in downtown St. Charles. All summer long, the Park District is holding its annual Thursday night concert series, and it's underway. Rock, Country, Blues, Rockabilly, Folk and so much more are awaiting. Gather up the family, some friends, or both, bring a comfy folding chair or favorite big blanket, kick back and relax for a few hours of musical entertainment. There’s nothing better than a nice musical outing under the evening sky. Visit www.visitstcharles.com to plan ahead and review the concert calendar; there is truly something for everyone to enjoy.

St. Charles Fourth of July Celebration in Pottawatomie Park: 8 N. Ave., St. Charles, IL 60174. It is a day to celebrate this great country. Stroll the parks, bike the paths, spend some time in the pool and then head over to Pottawatomie Park and settle in for an evening of music and incredible fireworks. The sun will set, and the night sky will come alive with a festival of color, light and sound, considered to be the best display in the area. The band Shout Out will begin playing in the pavilion at 6:00 p.m. Get there early and grab a good seat! There will be concessions as well, so grab some goodies and enjoy the celebration.

Parks, Pools, Patios, Paths and the Fourth of July: For those looking to make it a weekend summer celebration and are in need of a place to stay, review GSCCVB’s hotel list at www.visitstcharles.com. Grab a room at one of St. Charles’ many fine hotels and take the opportunity to visit a few other locations and events while in town.

STC Live: Venture into Downtown St. Charles every Wednesday and Friday evening for STC Live! From June through the beginning of September, enjoy live, free entertainment at a variety of venues. These great performances may include a local jazz combo, an aspiring vocalist, a magician, a dance troop, or an aspiring band. Performances begin at 5:00 p.m. and may go until 8:00 p.m. Check out the Visit St. Charles Facebook page each week for confirmed times, locations and performers.
