Free Lunch For U.K Health Care Providers

With increased pressure on Gp practice and community health care budgets. U.K company Pro Cure Health via it's retail arm has launched a search for Practice Heroes, those staff who make a lasting difference to the quality of care in their community.

Free Lunch - No such thing? There is now for.... Practice Heroes

'It is time to recognise the contribution of practice staff in U.K primary health care'
These are the words of Medical Supermarket co founder Nick Coleman. 'For too long the role of equipping and ensuring the successful day to day running of practices has been overlooked.'

For a long time now being part of the practice administration and management team has often been an unsung task. In England alone GP support staff account for over 100,000 employees (As of Sep 2011 - Data from The Health and Social Care Information Centre) a figure which excludes GP's and Practice Nurses. Overall that is 63,995 full time admin and managerial staff. This was an increase of 6.4% from 2010 to 2011 a total of 3,856 new practice staff.

These staff are responsible for equipment and supplies, budget and spending decisions. Reading through online discussions it is possible to see the evolution of the managers role with some practices moving away from the dual signature system for purchases, this again places added responsibility on practice managers.

Medical Supermarket wants to profile the unsung heroes of practice healthcare, a winner will be selected and along with their whole team will win a free lunch, hand delivered to the winning surgery or practice. To enter the competition simply email a short description of your Practice Hero and why you think they should win a free lunch.

The competition is open to managerial and administration staff, and entries are welcomed that recognise a meaningful contribution from individual staff.

Competition closing date is the 10th of November 2012, to enter send your email to [email protected]
