Fresh Coast Classic Extends Scholarship Application Deadline to November 5

Online, October 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships by downloading the application on the Fresh Coast Classic website at www.freshcoastclassic.org.

"The Fresh Coast Classic has proven to be more than a basketball tournament; it's a celebration that commemorates academic achievement, tradition and sportsmanship. We are dedicated to exposing Milwaukee-area youth to educational opportunities at colleges and universities throughout the country," said Harold Scott, Chairman of the Fresh Coast Classic. "With that in mind, we decided to extend the scholarship application deadline to November 5 so we can offer as many seniors as possible the opportunity to apply."

Applicants must meet the following requirements and provide the documentation listed below:

• Milwaukee County resident
• High school senior
• 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher
• 1,000 word essay
• Two letters of recommendation
• Official high school transcript
• Community service log
• Panel interview

Scheduled to take place in Milwaukee at Wisconsin Lutheran College Athletic Field House, 8800 West Bluemound Road, November 26-27, the Fresh Coast Classic is far more than a basketball game; it's an unforgettable experience that brings the legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to Milwaukee. Traditionally, the Fresh Coast Classic has been an HBCU Classic, but this year's event will expand to include eight area high school games that will follow the City/Suburban Holiday Classic format, in which a Milwaukee City Conference school will be paired against a Milwaukee area suburban school. In addition, the Fresh Coast Classic College & Resource Fair will provide Milwaukee youth and families the opportunity to explore the many educational options at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
