From the Horse's Mouth: New Assisted Living Center to Combine Senior Care with Horse Therapy
Plans are underway to convert a former horse stable in Tucson, Arizona into an assisted living community for the elderly.
Online, May 15, 2012 (Newswire.com) - David Freshwater, the mastermind behind a slew of innovative assisted living facilities across the US, isn't horsing around with his next project. Scheduled to open in 2013, The Haciendas at the River (located in Tucson, Arizona) will be part-assisted living and memory care facility and part-pet therapy center.
Residents of the community, which is currently being developed on land that once housed a horse stable, will be able to partake in yoga classes, catch a movie in the on-site movie theatre or play with some of the community's furriest and friendliest employees: their live-in staff of horses, dogs, cats, birds and fish.
The center's pet therapy program, which will include equine therapy, is one of the center's most unique and distinctive features, but it's not the only one. The center will also offer physical therapy in its medical facility and gardening opportunities in its greenhouse and fruit orchard.
This hotel-inspired hospitality combined with pet therapy services and small senior to staffer ratio means that this horse stable-cum-senior-facility will come with a higher-than- average price tag.
The Haciendas at the River will cost approximately $4,000 to $6,000 per month. The national average, by contrast, is purported to be just $2,968 per month (or $35,616 per year), according to a 2006 MetLife Market survey.
Fortunately, there are other options. Discover Assisted Living, discoverassitedliving.com, provides a detailed and complete listing of all assisted living facilities in the United States; from luxurious communities like that of The Haciendas at the River to more modest facilities for those on a stricter budget.
Unlike many websites, discoverassistedliving.com is free, which means you'll get the information you need and you won't have to pony up a cent.
