Functional Formularies Launches Indiegogo

Functional Formularies, healthcare startup, launches an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for a pediatric research study on their organic, whole foods-based enteral feeding tube formula.

Robin Gentry McGee, creator of the world's first organic whole foods feeding tube formula has announced the launch of the Liquid Hope, "Creating Hope" Indiegogo Campaign.

The goal is to raise $100,000 by January 27, 2014. All proceeds raised through the Indiegogo "Creating Hope" campaign will go towards providing Liquid Hope to 25 children participating in a six-month organic whole foods study.

"Until now, the choices available for tube-fed children—and all people—have been incredibly limited and often include providing a formula full of genetically modified ingredients and sugars, in some form," explained McGee. "Now, with Liquid Hope, we can provide an organic, whole foods, shelf-stable feeding-tube formula option."

Liquid Hope is made from 17 different real foods (foods that are unprocessed and unrefined with no additives) and provide a complete meal (a full meal that can sustain a person as their sole source of nutrition).

"Simply put, we want to bolster the case for insurance companies to foot the bill. We believe what Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." Therefore, all insurance companies should be required to pay for tube-fed children to have a real, full meal," said McGee.

While this campaign is specifically intended to raise funds for tube-fed children, Liquid Hope can provide a complete meal to people of all ages and in all situations (both in-home and in institutional settings).

Functional Formularies has manufactured and sold almost 30,000 units of Liquid Hope, to date with customers ranging from 12-months old to 95 years.
