Fundraising Lawyers Raise £10,000

Online, February 8, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Less than half way through their ambitious 12 month fundraising challenge, the team of four lawyers from Birmingham-based law firm Anthony Collins Solicitors are on track to meet their fundraising target.

The four lawyers, known as FourCubed, began their fundraising challenge back in October last year. Their target was to complete 12 runs over the next 12 months - 4 marathons, 4 half marathons and 4 10k runs for the charity Whizz-Kidz.

Having the Birmingham half marathon under their belts, they recently successfully finished their first full marathon in Gloucester.

Rankeshwar Batta from Anthony Collins Solicitors, the inspiration behind the FourCubed challenge, said: "Prior to the Gloucester Marathon, I was the only member of the team that had ever taken part in a full marathon. The team are very dedicated and have made many personal sacrifices to take part in the 12 month challenge; our dedication spurs us all on in tough times.

"We are thrilled to make such a good start with our fundraising, with pledges in excess of £10,000. But, we've still got a long way to go and many miles yet to run, so our fundraising efforts will continue in earnest."

The team's efforts have been hampered by the bad weather conditions, resulting in two runs being cancelled and requiring innovative ways to train. One snow-bound member of the team ran up and down a step in their house for 40 minutes in a bid to continue their training, and another walked on the treadmill whilst conducting a tele-conference to a Barrister's Chambers!

Adds Rankeshwar: "Whizz-Kidz is such a worthwhile charity that every painful joint is well worth it. Our next full marathon is the London Marathon in April. Birmingham-based No5 Chambers has pledged a fantastic amount and additionally one of their QCs will be running alongside the FourCubed team at this prestigious event."

Meanwhile, the wider FourCubed fundraising events within Anthony Collins Solicitors continues to gain momentum, with several thousands of pounds already pledged for their chosen charities: Cerebra, Rathbone, Cord, MLST, The Children's Society, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, SENSE, The Lighthouse Group and YMCA, Birmingham.
