Further Expansion for Derby Networking Group as it Enters the Political Arena
Details the expansion of Derby-based Business Networking group, Business on Toast.
Online, January 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Business on Toast recently received commendation and support from Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Derby North, Stephen Mold, as a large group of local business leaders assembled last week to debate the future of the regions business environment.
An enhancement to its usual Wednesday lunchtime meeting, the expanding business networking group received Mr. Mold's thoughts and plans for the future of Derby and how his party would prioritise the support of business in the region as the catalyst for growth in the establishment of Derby as a global leader in industry and technology.
Stating that he was very impressed with his interactions with Business on Toast, Mr. Mold commented: "Because I come from a business background, I want to make sure that I interact really closely with people such as yourselves (Business on Toast)...It's only when we really support business that you create prosperity. If people aren't creating the wealth and we aren't supporting business, we (Derby) aren't going to succeed". On enquiry into how he sees his future relationship with groups like Business on Toast, should he win the Derby North seat this May, Mr. Mold replied: "I see as one of my absolute top priorities to support business in this area. I would actually like to see a Yahoo or Google right here in Derby and I know that that needs to be the marriage of knowledge, and finance. As an MP, you can only do so much...you have to pick a couple of things and one for me is to absolutely be an ambassador for business in the area".
Along with its interactions with Mr. Mold, the group is again asserting itself in the wider political arena having recently accepted an invitation to sit with Derby City Council on its Urban Regeneration Initiative 'Getting Britain Back to Work'.
Business on Toast attracts hundreds of ambitious and successful businesses to its regular networking breakfast and lunchtime events, many of which are demonstrating notable achievements within their industries. Providing advice to the public following one of the coldest winters in recent years, Bakewells Solicitors' Personal Injury Solicitor, Darren Langton, recently went live on Radio Derby to provide a basic overview of the current law and what may happen in situations such as car accidents and the highway and cleaning your driveway, amongst other things.
ASAP Promotions Director and Business on Toast Training Coordinator, Yvonne Gorman, has recently announced her company's affiliation with The Technology Channels Association (TCA), an organisation that represents the interests of all types of business in various Digital Technology channels. ASAP now offers all TCA members exclusive discounts, redeemable against printing and promotional items. Yvonne commented: "I feel really privileged to be a TCA Affiliate Member and I can't wait to meet the members and colleagues at the next TCA seminar".
Fellow Business on Toast member, Fastsigns Derby, will be welcoming the Mayor of Derby to the grand opening of its franchised division of the globally leading brand in the production of signs, banners, exhibitions and display equipment, brochures, leaflets, vehicle graphics and more. Starting at 4:30pm on 28th January, Cllr. Sean Marshall will be marking the official opening with a ribbon cutting at 5pm. All are welcome to attend the event, located at 23-25 Shardlow Road, Alvaston, Derby. DE24 0JG and confirmations of attendance can be sent to co-owner Gill Brown by e-mailing [email protected].
Other recent and significant Business on Toast achievements include the provision of 50 Business Mentors to the University of Derby, two previous 'Megalunch Wednesdays' attended by The Derby Evening Telegraph and The Mayor of the City of Derby Cllr. Sean Marshall, along with coverage by the BBC and Ram FM.
