Fused Glass - Deborah Moses and The SIlver Zebra

Online, August 8, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Some of the biggest names in glass recently joined Deborah Moses of TheSilverZebra.co.uk when she ran an online forum about glass.

The entire evening and conversation was conducted online via Twitter - a feat in itself!

The subject was 'Fused Glass' - a speciality of Deborah's whose workshops are based in Middlewich, Cheshire.

Among the participants were Merlinglass, Glasswerksins, Steuben and Aaronsonglass, to name a few.

Deborah prepared 5 questions on the topic of Fused Glass for the chat which ranged from the use of GLass in Art to the environment and lighting.

The first question kicked off with the idea that there is a growing interest in Fused Glass as a creative medium.

The online community agreed that they were witnessing a growing interest in glass for art and sculpture - an area of growth welcomed by the fused glass community.

The discussion veered into more light hearted areas such as the notion that fused glass could be used in the production of Glass Bedsteads in the home! Given it's strength and versatility, the notion is valid.

All the while throughout the evening people continued to join the discussion and participate in virtual cups of coffee.

At a more pragmatic level the fact that Glass is recyclable and therefore environmentally friendly was a notion that everyone agreed should be promoted more.

Glass can be recycled over and over and be used to create designs in a multitude of ways. Plastic and some metals on the other hand, are not environmentally friendly by comparison.

As interesting as the online conversation about glass that took place, was the fact that so many people participated in such a discussion via Twitter.

Deborah's own views on the subject were recorded as having been re-tweeted 12,997 times.

That must be an achievement in itself!
