FYX Fleet Roadside Assistance Announces Key Leadership Changes

FYX Fleet Roadside Assistance

FYX Fleet, the leading provider of emergency roadside assistance for the intermodal and over-the-road trucking industries, today announced it has formed a new leadership structure. Jim Hertwig has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company. John Hart joins FYX as Chief Financial Officer and Zach Balthrop joins the company as Chief Commercial Officer. The changes, which are effective immediately, bring additional depth and expertise to FYX's executive leadership team to position the company for continued growth.

Hertwig is a 45-year veteran of the transportation and logistics industry, having served in several executive roles, including President and CEO of Florida East Coast Railway, President of CSX Intermodal, President & CEO of Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation, President of Landstar Logistics, and CEO of Con-way Intermodal. As CEO of FYX Fleet, Hertwig will work closely with Hart, Balthrop and the leadership team to drive overall business strategy and introduce new innovations in roadside assistance.

Hart brings more than 20 years of experience as a finance and operations executive at some of the top transportation and logistics companies. During his 18-year tenure at CSX, he worked closely with Hertwig and held several positions overseeing the company's Finance and Operations departments. Hart's proven success in building and scaling companies is a result of his focus on strategy and operational excellence. He's motivated by understanding the customers he serves and providing value at all levels of a business while making strong connections with his colleagues.

Balthrop brings fifteen years of experience with the automotive industry's leading and most trusted brands and has a consistent track record of profitable growth. Balthrop joins FYX from Pep Boys Auto Service & Tires, where he held the title of Senior Vice President - Sales, Marketing & Customer Experience. During his tenure, he led Pep Boys' transformation and expansion of its national network to focus on automotive maintenance and repair. His contributions to improving new business strategies will deliver meaningful results for this stage of FYX Fleet's growth.

"I am confident about the great growth opportunities in FYX Fleet and am impressed with what the existing team has achieved over the years. The transportation and logistics market is ready for consistent and innovative solutions that help improve driver downtime," Hertwig said. "Today's leadership changes will better position FYX Fleet to address this demand. It's a privilege to assume the role of CEO, and I'm excited to work with the team to further FYX's market leadership."

"I feel privileged to join the team to strengthen our position as the trusted partner for our customers and vendors while investing in our customer service teams and technology platforms to better serve the market," said Hart.

"I am excited to help this organization evolve, innovate, and grow, always in the pursuit of benefiting our employees and vendor partners, as well as the customers we serve," Balthrop said. "I look forward to working with Jim and the team to capitalize on the opportunities ahead."

The new leadership team announcement comes after FYX's separation from TRAC Intermodal in 2022.  There is a strong need for roadside assistance solutions that are simple, customizable and that keep partners connected. FYX is poised for success with customer-centric solutions that alleviate the stress associated with emergency roadside assistance.
