G.S. Gelato Wins NASFT Gold sofi™ Award for Outstanding Diet & Lifestyle Product

Gelato has been awarded the Gold sofi™ Award by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) for the most outstanding diet and lifestyle product of 2010 for the company's Blood Orange Sorbetto. The 38th annual sofi™ award ceremony was held at a red-carpet event at the Annual Summer Fancy Foods Show in New York City. The awards were presented by noted Executive Chef Dan Barber, one of Time Magazines 100 most influential people of 2009.

A sofi™ award, which stands for specialty outstanding food innovation, is the highest attainable honor a specialty food or beverage product can expect to receive in the $60 billion dollar specialty food industry. In this year's competition, a record 2,257 entries were submitted across 33 categories. Earlier this spring, G.S. Gelato's Blood Orange Sorbetto was among the 140 sofi™ Silver Finalists that were selected by a national panel of specialty food experts to move on to the final round of competition. Over 200 qualified buyers cast their selection at the Fancy Foods Show to choose the gold winners for each category.

The 2010 sofi™ competition marks the first time G.S. Gelato & Desserts has submitted a product for consideration.
