Gardeners Compete in National Shed Week

National Shed Week sees gardeners competing for the coveted prize

Gardeners everywhere are celebrating as it is National Shed Week. Now in its seventh year the coveted award has gone from strength-to-strength.

Shed enthusiasts have taken pride in building and caring for their sheds. For many they are a place of work or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the turf in ones garden. Those contending to be Shed of the Year range from hut sheds, eco-sheds, pub sheds, summerhouses and even a category called a tardis shed! There will even be a special category for International Shed of the Year.

Many famous people work from their garden sheds including bestselling author Joanne Harris. The writer of novel turned film Chocolat, pens her famous stories from the shed at the bottom of her garden.

Emma Scott from Salford based company Kennedy's Turf said a shed is a great feature for many gardens. "When you have toiled in the garden all day it is nice to have somewhere to put your feet up and look at your work. If you are doing something like laying new lawn turf it can be back breaking work so it is nice to have somewhere to go and relax."

Many people have gone to town on their garden sheds and have made pretty [url: http://www.kennedysturf.co.uk/shop/stone_aggregates/]stone[/url] paths leading to the doorways or placed play bark around the outside so keen are they to catch the judge's eye during the competition.

Previous winners of best shed have included one designed as a Roman temple and a shed used as a meeting point for a local rugby club.
