Gazeley Leases Entire First Phase of Beichen Warehouse Development to Food Giant Nestle
Online, November 8, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Gazeley, a leading global developer of high quality, cost effective logistics space today announced the leasing of the complete Phase 1 of the Gazeley Beichen Logistics Park, a 24,000 square meter space in Tianjin, China, to the world's largest food and beverage company, Nestle.
The two parties negotiated a build-to-suit lease agreement under which Gazeley will also manage the installation of a cold-storage cell and specialised racking systems to suit the Nestle's unique fit-out requirements.
Built as Phase 1 of a multiphase Gazeley Beichen Logistics Park, the high-grade facility will serve Nestle as its regional distribution center (RDC) in North China. This new Nestle RDC is adjacent to Walmart's 43,000m2 North China distribution centre which Gazeley delivered in 2007. Both projects are in the Beichen Hi-Tech Industrial Park of Tianjin's Binhai New Development Zone, an area chosen by Gazeley and Walmart based on its strategic location with proximity to the regional seaport, road and rail network.
Gazeley's Beichen Logistics Park was delivered under budget, with substantial engineering design efficiencies and other cost savings that have been passed on to the customers. It was also completed on schedule despite an extensive revision to the master plan which earlier introduced 7,600 m2 of extra space.
Nestle selected the Gazeley Beichen facility as the efficient layout, construction quality and advantageous location will allow it to cost effectively meet the demands of its growing China business over the long-term. Nestle also recognizes Gazeley's ability to provide a high level of service in expediting the additional tailored fit-out work and responding effectively to the client's timeline.
The successful leasing of Phase 1 of the Beichen Park provides great momentum as Gazeley is launching the development of Phase 2, which comprises three buildings with 62,000 square metres of gross floor area.
"Gazeley is excited to welcome Nestle, a company renowned for its quality products, to our Beichen development. We have enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with them and add value in meeting their high standards for operational efficiency.. We are experiencing strong continued interest in the subsequent phases of the project from other brand name companies and welcome this further interest as we continue to expand in the region," said Sally Lin, Country Director of Gazeley China.
