GE Tour De Power Challenge Gives Home Builders Chance To Win Prizes

Online, February 21, 2012 (Newswire.com) - MILWAUKEE - Visitors of the GE Home Generator Systems booth during the International Builders' Show, Feb. 8 to 11, will be able to pedal their way to prizes. Participants of the Tour de Power Challenge in-booth promotion will have one minute to generate power by pedaling on a stationary bicycle connected to a generator, powering a light.

Participants who ride the in-booth bikes will have an opportunity to win prizes from Briggs & Stratton, the exclusive licensee of GE-branded home generators. Daily winners who generate the most watt-hours will receive $50 Home Depot gift cards and one grand prize winner will receive an Apple iPad. Briggs & Stratton's new dual 200-amp/split 400-amp automatic transfer switch, designed to simplify home generator installation while still providing the power needed for most homes, will be on display for the first time at the show.

The first solution of its kind for the market, the new integrated solution for is designed to transfer 400 amps of power from two 200-amp service panels with one dual 200-amp/split 400-amp transfer switch. Previously, homeowners who needed 400 amps to power their home would have purchased a more expensive 400-amp transfer switch, or installed two separate 200-amp switches. The new dual 200-amp/split 400 amp transfer switch matches the power of those options, but is sleeker, lighter and has lower installation costs than separate 200-amp transfer switches, as less wiring is required.
