GED Information Center Proves Valuable Test Preparation Resource

Prospective GED Test Takers Have Easy Access to Official Resources at the New GED Information Center Website

The GED Information Center is an easy to navigate website designed to provide people seeking the General Educational Development (GED) diploma with the most accurate and official information. The website is published by Online Career Advancement, an education and training provider.

The GED Information Center website provides links to GED resources, references, and learning materials from the American Council on Education (ACE), the GED Testing Service, official GED practice tests providers, State Departments of Education, colleges and universities, and other adult education service providers as supplements to GED instruction and GED test preparation; all accessible from a single web page.

The idea for the GED Information Center was originated by Janet Hicks, a volunteer GED teacher in New York City. According to an article in the New York Times "New York State has the highest failure rate for adults who want to get an equivalent credential by taking the General Educational Development Test, or G.E.D." Ms. Hicks believes that lack of accessibility to accurate information regarding the official GED is a contributing factor to the high failure rate.

"When Janet approached us with the idea of publishing a GED informational website, we already understood the immediate need. There are so many fraudulent GED and high school programs on the Internet that there needs to be more accurate information about the official GED made available and highly visible" said Leonard Cox, a former colleague of Ms. Hicks and president, Online Career Advancement.
Response to the GED Information Center has been substantial. "We receive numerous positive comments throughout the day; many thanking Janet for making this information available in an easy to access format. Some of the comments are very heartfelt. These people really want to improve their lives by attaining a GED diploma" adds Professor Cox.

There are still many people who are being led to believe that you can obtain a GED credential by taking a test via the Internet. There are also numerous high school programs offering online diplomas that essentially have no value and are not accepted by colleges or employers. A primary goal of the GED Information Center is to help alleviate these issues.

The GED Information Center website also includes links to assist GED educators and testing center administrators with gaining accurate information about the official GED. "We are amazed at the number of GED test prep provider websites, including colleges, that have links to GED resources and programs that are fraudulent or, at the very least, misleading..."

The GED Information Center website and all GED resource links will remain ad-free; links are to content that adheres to the standards and curriculum guidelines of the official General Educational Development (GED) diploma.

Online Career Advancement welcomes suggestions and comments to help improve the GEDInformationCenter.com website. Links to websites with advertising and false or misleading information about the GED will not be accepted. Adult education centers, community colleges, GED testing centers, and other GED program and service providers are encouraged to link to the GED Information Center website.
