Geo Storyworld Transmedia Showcase in Manchester - How To Create and Distribute Stories to Modern Audiences

The University of Bolton, University of Salford and Transmedia consultants Bellyfeel, have teamed up for an innovative live event in MediaCityUK at 1pm on the 22nd November 2013.

The University of Bolton, University of Salford and Transmedia consultants Bellyfeel, have teamed up for an innovative live event in MediaCityUK at 1pm on the 22nd November 2013 where they will premiere a brand new interactive story format, plus showcase a selection of the latest Geo Transmedia storytelling projects made in the North West region.

"Geo Storyworlds - The Future of News, Entertainment and Storytelling" is a one hour interactive showcase featuring stories for new devices and platforms, and the lowdown on where these new types of media will take us in the next five years.

The event which is part of Salford Media Festival's "Next Generation", is for students, creatives, storytellers, producers and business owners who want to learn more about interactive location based storytelling and see how these projects are made; from start to finish.

Featured projects:

On Location - a geo locative storytelling system for education and the real world that pins local stories to the global map and vice versa. Filling the gap between network news and local voices, part aggregation, part user generated content, On Location drives local involvement and thrives on participation from communities and individuals. Bolton Storyworld - like the X-Files but set in Bolton - written by students, made by students and starring students. A new type of story that mixes Social Media, Games, Web, Email, Mobile and Live Events - blending fact and fiction into an immersive imaginary version of modern day Bolton where quite literally - anything might happen!

In addition, the brand new interactive mobile story format being premiered at the event is described by Bellyfeel's Krishna Stott, "This is a new idea to keep things fresh on the day that of course could fall flat on its face. But we have to keep trying new formats out and it will be fun to see if it actually works. Prepare to be amazed - or something else entirely!"

Anna Zaluczkowska, Senior Lecturer in Media at University of Bolton said, "Both Universities have been developing these new storytelling formats in conjunction with Bellyfeel for a couple of years and we are now ready to show them off - in all their ragged glory."

Alex Fenton of the University of Salford's Centre for Business said, "MediaCityUk is at the beginning of its story and we would love you to join us for our Geo StoryWorlds event in the hope that experiencing the weave of our Storyworlds will inspire you to weave your own."
