GeoPalz Launches IPhone Application For Tracking Family Fitness
GeoPalz (www.geopalz.com), the first decorative pedometer for kids, announces a new, free iPhone application to track physical activity.
Online, May 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - GeoPalz (www.geopalz.com), the first decorative pedometer for kids, announces a new iPhone application to track physical activity. Free for GeoPalz users, the app works in conjunction with the pedometer to encourage family fitness by counting steps and tracking distance traveled.
The GeoPalz activity tracker is a pedometer and online game that targets families and children ages five and up and records their physical activity throughout the day. As a supplement to the GeoPalz activity tracker, the GeoPalz iPhone app allows family members to track physical activity through a choice of three measurement systems. At the start of an activity, users have the option to view steps on a numerical pedometer, a pedometer with a map showing how many steps they've taken or a GPS map with their total distance.
For a family with several registered GeoPalz pedometers, the iPhone app can track the steps of each family member. At the start of the activity, the app user can simply select family members that are present and record steps for everyone. To use the iPhone app, a user simply logs in with an existing GeoPalz account.
"Since the GeoPalz activity tracker for kids has been such a success, we wanted to get the whole family involved," said Rich Schmelzer, CEO of GeoPalz, LLC. "Many parents and older siblings own an iPhone, so an iPhone application is the perfect way to encourage group activity with the entire family."
The original GeoPalz pedometer sits on your child's belt or hip, and comes in several kid-friendly designs in various character groups, such as "Sports," "Rock," "Fantasy," "Cutesy," "Edgy" and popular "SkelanimalsTM." With GeoPalz, children are encouraged to "walk to win." The activity tracker measures the child's steps, which can then be entered online at the GeoPalz online community to redeem a variety of prizes and awards. With the iPhone app, you can also "walk to win." Any steps recorded through the iPhone app are automatically added to the user's GeoPalz online profile.
The GeoPalz iPhone app is available now in the Apple Store and is free to users who are currently registered with the GeoPalz website.
GeoPalz activity trackers retail for $19.99 - $34.99 and are available in more than 250 retailers nationwide and also on the GeoPalz Web site. You can find a store near you, or purchase online at www.geopalz.com/store.
