Getting the most out of Event Attending- optimize event attending experience by utilizing it from all the possible tangents

When I am present at an event or business conference, most of the times I gain lot of business benefit from the same event, unlike most people gain by attending multiple events. What is the reason behind it?

Because I give my best shot to optimize my event attending experience by utilizing it from all the possible tangents. Out of being a part of hundreds of conferences and events over the past few years or so, I have realized few important ways in particular to get the best out of attending an event or conference. Irrespective of your field, whether marketing, human resource, public relations, finance, customer services or any other vertical in your business, you can add far more value to your current business scenario.

  • Growing your network

There is no alternative for a great quality Network. Usually, it takes lot of time and efforts to grow contacts and personal network and if you’re running a business then developing community is an ongoing activity.  Being a part of online events and offline conferences, gives you a lot of opportunities to grow productive networking which can give you fruitful results including Recruiting, Partner sourcing, consultant & Vendor outsourcing, prospecting new customers, etc.

While attending events, you should always set goals for the type of contacts that you want to make. Ensure, you have purpose and goals to your offline and online event networking.

  • Share the best knowledge within your team

The main aim of attending a conference or an event is listening to the industry experts, their insights and advice about the topics that your line of business can gain benefit from. Collating statistics, actionable tips and other valuable information from the events attended to share with your team or clients can benefit the project in the long run.

To make the knowledge transfer more effective within the team, it’s important that you follow a process of Capture-Amalgamation-Distribution cycle.

Capture

You should target specific sessions and speakers. Make a note of the questions that you need a solution of and if the session or presentation doesn’t contain those answers then approach the expert speakers to ask them directly. Always try to collate the information in text, pictures, videos and audios. Note: Beware of the conference policies before capturing those information in any form, especially image and video captures.

Amalgamation

When you prepare your questions, try to picture specific utilization for your project in mind. After getting answers, always try to think about the practical and useful application in your business. Make a habit of discussing it with the fellow attendees to figure out the most useful piece of information.

Distribution

After gathering all the information, make proper plan of how to present this important insights, tactics, case studies and statistics with your clients, colleagues and other parties related to your business. There are different ways; you can present this information to different set of people. It can be presented in form of a proper Report, presentation slides, webinars, knowledge based blog, etc.
