Ginger Gilmour Shares Christmas Past and Present in "Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon"
Ginger Gilmour 1st wife of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour shares her personal Christmas story.
London, UK, December 9, 2015 (Newswire.com) - As Ginger sits at her leadlight window overlooking her English garden. Her thoughts carry her to a place not far away from her heart. The children were younger then and the house bustled with laughter and the scent of pine cones and burning embers. Time slips into the family moments of anticipating the plans for this very special day. The McCartney’s annual Christmas gathering was a special time for us all. Each year Linda and Paul created a moment of cheer in their country home full of garlands and poinsettias. Standing by their inglenook fireplace next to the bedecked Christmas tree, they gave presents to all the children by name. Their faces lit with joy as they opened their gifts.
“Have you ever dreamt that Christmas could be a time full of Joy and Harmony? A time when all your friends and family would come together to share all the love in their hearts and not argue? I did and each year I sought to create an environment in which Joy did happen within my own home,” Ginger says.
And so it was, as David would not be touring with Pink Floyd, all things stopped for that one season. Christmas was a celebrated holiday each year at the Gilmour home and together with Paul and Linda at theirs...This we shared in common to once again return to a normal family life beyond Rock n Roll. Wrapping paper and ribbons covered the floor of our piano room while the children slept waiting for Santa to appear. It was a time for all to heal, reflect and to be a family again. David would put on his cooking apron and I was his sous chef. The children played in the other room with their new toys while others watched the Ten Commandments on the BBC. The day was filled with laughter and opened hearts….And, of course, great food.
The joy of her memories echoed as a passing car and the wind across her brow brings her back. Yes, this year is going to be carried with the same Joy and Sharing of her heart with Love. I have the perfect gift in mind....One that means as much as any ever given. I have created ‘Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon’ a book written from my heart with Love & Beauty for all.
