'GIT' With It: Use Source Control to Share Your Code With the World

On July 8, 2015 Source Control Expert Presents Workshop for Women in Technology Group

Why source control? What is version control aka revision control? Source control can help you track your own code changes. Easily share your code with both your team and the world, then merge your changes with others' work.

In the July 8, 2015 Code(Her) workshop on revision control, expert Ryan Pfister will introduce a basic overview of two of the most popular source control systems: git and svn. There will be a chance to get hands on with the code, learning the essentials of revision control software. Workshop attendees will easily publish code online and contribute to open source projects.

"We'll go hands on and show how to easily publish code online and contribute to open source projects. Bring your laptop and your brain."

Ryan Pfister, Presenter

Workshop attendees will learn to commit a change in git, push it to other repositories in order for other people to see it, pull down updates, as well as understand the differences between git revision and subversion (git revision log is copied locally; svn keeps it on the server).

Tickets for the workshop are available online via https://git-with-it.eventbrite.com.

Network and enjoy a light dinner (pizza or sandwiches and soda included!) at 6:00 PM. -- sponsored by DC Web Women. Instruction will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. Bring your laptop and your brain. Early bird tickets are priced at $35.00, but –hurry!– that price only lasts until July 7,2015. Purchase your workshop tickets at https://git-with-it.eventbrite.com.
