Fundraiser to Support Dageno Girls Center in Tanzania

Outreach Process Partners, LLC, (OPP) is hosting a fundraiser Saturday, December 19th at Buffalo Billiards from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This effort will raise funds in order to triple the current enrollment of the Dageno Girls Center; a place of refuge, safety and hope for young girls in Tanzania. Last year, a 13-year-old Tanzanian girl ran away from home because her father was forcing her to marry an abusive alcoholic. Thankfully, she knew there was somewhere she could turn for help. She walked six days to arrive at the Dageno Girls Center in Karatu, Tanzania.

The Dageno Girls Center is a residential education center for Tanzanian girls, offering holistic support, academics, entrepreneurial leadership and life skills. It costs $650 per girl per 10-month school year and they are currently looking to expand their capacity. The current waitlist is 300 girls long.

Andie Trotter, an American expert in developing world education curriculum, arrived in Karatu in 2010 at the request of the government to turn around a failing primary school. By overhauling the curriculum and retraining the teachers, the school rose from the bottom to the top ranking in two years. However, Andie noticed that her students didn’t have anywhere to go after graduating at age 12.

Andie founded the Dageno Girls Center in 2013 using a combination of small grants from St. Margaret’s Church and OPP, both of Annapolis, MD, and funds from her parents. So far she hasn’t taken a salary--giving all funds to the 50 girls the Center currently supports.

Please come out and join us on the 19th for food and drink specials, a silent auction, trivia and a raffle! All donated proceeds will be given directly to the Center and will truly make a difference in the lives of these beautifully talented young women. Support the cause today, visit http://bit.ly/1MPDmQH.

In addition to the local fundraiser, donations can be made through the Center’s GoFundMe, https://www.gofundme.com/DagenoGirlsCenter.

Thanks to our donors, the raffle and silent auction will include items from:
