Glo Films Schedules Zone 14

Online, June 29, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Glo Films has been awarded the contract to devise the shooting schedule for Zone 14 series 3, which has recently begun filming in Orlando, Soweto, South Africa.

Zone 14 is one of South Africa's most popular weekly TV dramas, with series 1 and 2 's episodes consistently placing in the top 5 most watched programs in the country.

The shooting schedule involves managing a number of complex elements: over 100 performers, and 30 interior and 20 exterior locations. In addition, two filming units operate simultaneously, each requiring the same performers.

The scheduling challenge is formidable, considering that the crew shoot 6 days a week with an ambitious daily shooting target, mixing drama with intricate high-action football scenes.

Scheduling is done using Movie Magic Scheduling 5, to breakdown the scripts into the necessary production 'elements' - like cast members or locations. From there, the elements are placed on a 'stripboard', where each scenes' elements can be displayed, and sorted into a schedule that combines cost-effective shooting with the creative requirements of the scripts.
