Global Cinema Distribution Along With TriCoast Worldwide And Anchor Bay Starz Announces The Distribution Of The Thirstily Anticipated Zombie Film "The Dead".

Global Cinema Distribution pick up North America theatrical rights to UK filmmakers Ford Brothers' "The Dead" set in Africa

California based acquisition and distribution company Global Cinema Distribution, best known for representing independent film projects in the USA and foreign markets, eagerly announce the newly acquired North American theatrical rights to "The Dead" distributing throughout cinemas beginning the summer.

Shot on never before committed to celluloid locations across Burkina Faso and Ghana, West Africa, "The Dead" is unlike anything horror audiences have experienced before. Centered around an American mercenary, the sole survivor of a plane crash, who has to run the gauntlet across Africa, battling against the living dead. Along his journey the mercenary finds an ally in a local military man who is desperately searching for his son amongst the chaos. They must band together to make their way through this brand new horrific world of the dead. The film stars Rob Freeman ("Saving Private Ryan"), and African up and coming star Prince David Osei, making his US theatrical debut.

Dan Nelson of Global Cinema Distribution enthused; "We are excited to announce the acquisition of this incredibly unique movie "THE DEAD", shot on 35mm across Africa, it's made for the big screen and GCD is delighted to be the ones to make that happen in cinemas across America."

All other rights for North America, have been purchased by Kevin Kasha and James Shapiro for Anchor Bay Starz, who will release the film on DVD late 2011 or early 2012. Anchor Bay Starz UK Managing Director Rod Smith has snapped up all UK rights to The Dead, and will be releasing the film in cinemas in England by Halloween 2011. MIG Film Group has acquired all German rights and Hopscotch all rights for Australia. TriCoast Worldwide negotiated all sales for the producers of The Dead, Amir Moallemi and Howard J. Ford.

Global Cinema Distribution successfully distributed "La Mission" starring Benjamin Bratt last year, is also set to distribute and executive produce, through its sister company Golden Leaf Pictures (GLP), a catalogue of movies in 2011 including concert film "The Road To Woodstock," which is currently in post-production featuring all original bands that played Woodstock at the original site. Other movies slated for this year are "Sleepaway Camp Reunion - 3D" which is set to be filmed at the luxury lake resort of Hobergs Club Resort, Northern California.

Zombie and horror fans are touting UK directors of The Dead, Howard and Jonathan Ford as the new Ridley and Tony Scott, as they also hail from a successful commercials background. The making of The Dead has turned out to be an amazing saga on its own, the production team encountered real death on a daily basis and were also held up at gun point several times, kidnapped, arrested, and the lead actor almost died after contracting malaria in the middle of filming!
