"Global, Relevant And Deployable Management Education Is The Key At IMT CDL"

Online, October 6, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Sunil Mittal, MD, Spacechem Enterprises & Spacechem Engineers Pvt. Ltd.
"I want to grow ten-fold." That is the goal Sunil Mittal has set for himself and his organisation in the next five years. Sunil is an IMT-CDL alumnus who did a Post Graduation in Management from the institute, and today manages the Spacechem Group.
The organisation started as a metal fabrication job shop! Over the last few years, this fabrication unit has grown into four industrial units manufacturing and delivering customised welded structures, assemblies and plate fabricated beams for diverse industrial applications and infrastructure projects of global EPC contractors.
In the year 2007, Spacechem Enterprises promoted a new company - Spacechem Engineers Pvt. Ltd. This enabled corporate expansion and included acquiring new manufacturing sites and engaging strategic alliances for technology, product development and global marketing. The combined infrastructure of the companies is spread over 60,000 sq. meters of government-approved industrial land with factory sheds, overhead cranes, manufacturing equipment, and teams of skilled workmen and engineers. Both companies are registered with the Directorate of Industries, U.P. State Government and the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
Despite these accomplishments, Sunil Mittal has learnt not to rest on his laurels. He grows every single day and this he does with a keen eye on opportunities. "There are no typical hours. You work whenever you see the opportunity to make money", he says. He loves his job and the fact that he gets to meet new people every day through his work. He also believes that this is his chance to change the world. Of course, he has his pet peeves too! He abhors the lack of commitment in some of his staff. He dislikes dealing with clients who are not open to information and learning; he has also started getting daunted by his late and never-ending working hours.
He does admit that though his journey has been tough, it has been extremely fulfilling. Among his most cherished accomplishments is manufacturing complex fabrication jobs for top global MNCs like Robbins Tunneling and Herrenknecht, and serving high volumes to the biggest indigenous equipment company - BHEL - well in time.
'Confidence' and 'Determination' are the two key words in Sunil's success story. He says, "An entrepreneur is confident in the knowledge that he will make his businesses succeed. And he is never thwarted by his defeats. A successful entrepreneur does not believe that something cannot be done!"
He chose to pursue a management course from IMT owing to the institute's policy on student selection based on merit. He thinks this quality is the strength of IMT . His 3-point suggestion for management education in the country is that it should:
1. Provide relevant input to meet industry needs and personal growth aspirations
2. Have deployability potential so that a management graduate can be employable from day one
3. Provide global mindset to enable the students to look beyond their geographical boundaries for employment.
