GlobalGiving OKs Humane Education Project for Rifugio Isola Del Sole

NOTO, Italy, August 25, 2020 (Newswire.com) - People around the world can now be a part of the village it takes to raise a child in this UNESCO World Heritage site.

GlobalGiving has approved an International Educational Center for Humane Sicily, which puts the project front and center with GG’s million-plus donors.

“COVID-19 has forced us to pay attention to the relationship between animal exploitation and human health,” says Rifugio Isola Del Sole founder and director Laura Formentini. “Our International Education Center will welcome children and their families with interactive sessions about animal welfare, the importance of spaying and neutering, and what 'factory farming' is really all about.”

Formentini underscores that “the GlobalGiving partnership is a big part of our campaign to spread this critical message to people who may never visit Sicily.”

Rifugio Isola Del Sole was created in 2019 to shelter older dogs, combat the over-population of strays in the area and “do our small part to make a better world for animals and people,” say Formentini and co-director Jonathan Weed.

Even during the pandemic, the Rifugio has been building an Elderly Dog Shelter, creating online courses, rescuing 50 animals and providing vaccinations and sterilization for more than 150 dogs and cats.

All of this has earned the Rifugio “Top Ranked” and “Effective Nonprofit” status from GlobalGiving.
