Connecting People with Community Services and Opportunities

GoodMojo.Us, a socially conscious technology enterprise, today announces a 253-city effort to connect people from around the world with each other as well as locally to services, resources, and opportunities available in each of their specific communities.  “Our numbers of community and city initiatives increase monthly,” says Marilyn Turkovich, Interim Director of the Charter for Compassion.  “We’ve grown 300% in just 18 months and anticipate that our community initiatives will triple by 2017.”

"We can tap our social connections to bring compassion everywhere around the world. Let's face it, there's uncertainty in each of our lives. Tomorrow any one of us could be in a position of need, but today we may be in a position to help others. GoodMojo equips us at any position in our lives."

Alfred Cheung, Founder

GoodMojo will partner with the Charter for Compassion to bring its message of global compassion to a broad audience of Charter partners, members and community organizers now numbering more than 120,000.  GoodMojo's unique online tool, which allows users to search for local services and connections, will be opened to residents of all international communities that participated in Compassion Week 2014, held in San Francisco from November 10 through 15, and to those individuals and organizations registered with the Charter.

The Charter partnership model is designed to create connections among people in communities worldwide to bring compassionate action to all they do for the well being of people across the globe.  “Right now, individuals from one of our partners, Compassion It, are in Botswana training social service workers with techniques they acquired from another of our partners, CCARE at Stanford University,” said Turkovich.  In addition, the online connections will encourage the sharing of stories, events, and strategies for “bringing compassion to life” and igniting compassion from neighborhood to neighborhood.

"We can tap our social connections to bring compassion everywhere around the world," said Alfred Cheung. "Let’s face it, there’s uncertainty in each of our lives. Tomorrow any one of us could be in a position of need, but today we may be in a position to help others.  GoodMojo equips us at any position in our lives."

GoodMojo was founded in 2009 by a group of socially conscious engineers who wanted to use their skills to bring together people who needed help in their San Francisco Bay Area communities with people and organization providing solutions. GoodMojo partners with San Francisco-based non-profit technology company Tekmeca for software development. The GoodMojo.Us network is named after Mojo, a 17-year-old Golden Labrador who inspires affection and love everywhere he goes.
