Google Panda Update Vs. Embarrassing Niche Websites Cause Stir In SEO Community
Providing dating advice for men since 2005, TheModernMan.com suddenly experienced a 40% drop in Google's organic search rankings after the much talked about Panda algorithm update.
Online, July 31, 2011 (Newswire.com) - According to most SEO experts today, links from social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter count heavily in Google's new search algorithm. However, what does this new SEO requirement mean for sites that are too embarrassing to share in front of family and friends?
Dan Bacon from TheModernMan.com says, "I think Google is an exceptional company that is trying to do the right thing by changing the search algorithm in favour of the new trend toward social networking. However, like many other honest website owners in 2011, I am at a loss to work out why Google has penalized my site and dropped my rankings."
Mr. Bacon adds, "Guys are too embarrassed to share any articles of mine on Facebook because they don't want to be teased by family, friends and co-workers for needing dating advice. So, even though we continue to offer useful, original content for our visitors, we probably won't be ever able to satisfy the needs of the new algorithm."
Mr. Bacon cites that TheModernMan.com's alpha male article always has ranked highly in Google since it was posted on TheModernMan.com approximately 4 years ago, but suddenly dropped to page two in the search results despite providing useful and unique content. Mr Bacon adds, "I am at a loss to understand this drop in rankings. Does Google's Panda dislike older content? Do I need to rewrite all of my older articles again from scratch to regain my rankings? Is a 4 year article too old for the new engine?"
Across the SEO community opinion is divided about the true solution to satisfying Google's new search algorithm. Most people say that quality, original content is needed. However, if that is true, why did The Modern Man's article about how to talk to women suddenly drop out of the rankings? The article includes a relevant Youtube video made by The Modern Man. All original content, all helpful to the visitor, but no high rankings.
Mr. Bacon adds, "I believe that Google is trying to do the right thing, but so are we...and we are being penalized for some reason that is practically impossible to get an answer on. Google is in an unfortunate position where they can't be too specific about what webmasters need to do to satisfy their new algorithm, because they don't want to show the scammers how to game Google's engine. This is totally understandable, but how about us honest people providing real value to people when they land our pages through search?"
The Modern Man has been providing free dating advice for men in the form of articles, videos, audio clips and free PDF reports since 2005. They also offer premium dating advice in the form of downloadable, digital products. They have received a lot of TV and radio coverage and are often referred to as world class dating coaches for men.
