Graham's Foundation Marks Prematurity Awareness Month With a Micro-Donation Fundraiser
Online, October 17, 2010 (Newswire.com) - This November, Graham's Foundation (http://www.GrahamsFoundation.org) is observing Prematurity Awareness Month by holding an online fundraiser that asks those whose lives have been touched by a micro-preemie to give micro-donations based on infant birth weights. The month-long benefit can be found at http://invested.in/P545/micro-donations-to-support-parents-of-micro-preemie-babies, along with a video introduction to Graham's Foundation and words of gratitude from those whose lives have been touched by the organization.
"With this fundraiser, we want to do more than simply raise money," said Nick Hall, who founded Graham's Foundation with his wife Jennifer to address the emotional and physical needs of the mothers and fathers of micro-preemies. "Our hope is that linking suggested donations with micro-preemie birthrates will help raise awareness - there are still so many people unaware of just how small and fragile these special babies are, the care they require, and what it requires of the parents."
This attention-grabbing method of soliciting donations is Graham's Foundation's latest effort to help people understand just how tiny and vulnerable the smallest, earliest premature infants are. Every year 50,000 micro-preemie babies - those weighing less than 3 pounds and delivered at less than 29 weeks gestation - are born in the United States. These babies often require intensive care for months and undergo countless medical procedures for health concerns that can last into adulthood.
About Graham's Foundation
Graham's Foundation assembles and sends care packages designed to meet the physical and emotional needs of parents of micro-preemie babies, and provides goods and services that are both practical and inspirational. The charitable organization was founded in 2009 by Nick and Jennifer Hall, who experienced the roller-coaster ride of being parents in the neo-natal intensive care unit, losing their son Graham after 45 days and their daughter Reece's four-month stay.
