Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour Deals for Thanksgiving Holiday Travelers

Get ready for "Turkey Day!" Lock in flights at cheap holiday rates. Seats limited. To qualify for discounts, book online.

It's never too early to start planning that Thanksgiving holiday vacation and that's especially true when it comes to helicopter tours over the Grand Canyon.

This year, Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours, the leader in Canyon flights from Las Vegas, NV, and South Rim, AZ, will be offering a number of select all-air flights at a significant discount.

"Thanksgiving is a super busy holiday at the National Park. Thus it's advised to book seats in advance. Rule of thumb is at least a week or two for best price and selection. Avoid 24-hour and same-day bookings as the price goes up and the best tours sell out."

Vegas!

The Las Vegas tour is the basic all-air package that goes over Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the Colorado River and the Canyon before heading back to the Vegas Strip. The South Rim tour is the 30-minute flight that goes from South Rim to North Rim and back.

The Vegas package includes free hotel pick up and drop at all major Las Vegas resorts. Guests must provide their own transportation to the South Rim's Grand Canyon National Park Airport, which is just 15 minutes from all the Park's major lodges.

In addition to all-air tours, travelers can opt to take a tour that lands at the top or bottom of the Canyon. The most popular of these trips is the one that goes to the base for a Champagne picnic alongside the Colorado River.

Upgrades

Travelers are free to upgrade this specific trip to include a Colorado Boat Ride and a ticket to the internationally famous Grand Canyon Skywalk, which is an all-glass platform that lets intrepid travelers walk some 70 feet over the edge.

Please not that tours from Vegas come in basic and deluxe versions. The basic trips are the cheapest and use a mini-van for pick up and drop off as well as one of the older helicopters in the fleet. Deluxe tour transport, by contrast, is by limousine and the helicopter used is the superior EcoStar 130.

What makes the EcoStar superior is that it's 25 percent larger and is outfitted with stadium-style seats and a 180-degree wraparound windshield. Further, these choppers are aerodynamically designed to deliver the smoothest ride possible.

South Rim

Out at South Rim, guests are encouraged to consider the 50-minute tour, which does everything the shorter tour does, plus the Dragoon Corridor (the widest, deepest section of the Canyon) and everything up to East Rim's border. By the time a traveler is done with this flight, nearly 75% of the Canyon will have been experienced.

Remember to dress for fall temperatures at the Canyon. The West Rim, which is closest to Las Vegas, is more temperate and follows Vegas' climate. The South Rim, which sits at an elevation of 7,000 feet, is much cooler. In both cases, dress in layers and bring a lightweight jacket.
