Greater Manchester Fire And Rescue Installs New NICE Recording Solution From Sinclair Voicenet

New recording solution will help control room personnel to co-ordinate the response to more than 66,000 emergency calls received each year

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), the UK's second largest fire service, has awarded Sinclair Voicenet a major contract to supply and install a new voice recording solution. Under the terms of the contract, which was awarded in March 2012 following a competitive tender process, Sinclair Voicenet has installed a NICE Recording eXpress system at the emergency control room located within GMFRS's headquarters at Swinton. It will help control room personnel to co-ordinate the response to more than 66,000 emergency calls received each year and manage the movements of over 100 fire appliances in the Greater Manchester area.

According to Stephen Bould, Technical and Communication Services Manager for GMFRS: "Sinclair Voicenet was awarded the contract after impressing the evaluation panel with their understanding of what we were trying to achieve and presented a 'best fit' solution that would meet our specific requirements. In addition, the company was able to meet our tight timescales to install the new system within two weeks of receiving the contract."

The NICE Recording eXpress solution will provide control room personnel with faster access to recordings from any networked PC to enhance the response management process and speed up the decision-making process. It also gives GMFRS a flexible expansion path as and when required.

Ian Parry Senior Analyst for ICT C3 added: "The expertise and high level of professionalism demonstrated by Sinclair Voicenet whilst engaging with our organisation, gave us high levels of confidence that the system would more than meet our expectations. It was important for us to ensure that not only were our Control room management team involved in the evaluation process, but also the personnel using the system. Sinclair Voicenet was very supportive of this aim and, following a great presentation, spent time answering all of the questions raised by GMFRS staff."

After the installation was completed, feedback from staff confirmed that the NICE Recording eXpress solution was user friendly and that it was easy to replay recordings with little training required. The system was also commended for being flexible and meeting all GMFRS's needs.
