Green-IT: PC Power Management Now With Active Directory Support & PM Error Detection

EnviProt makes mass deployment, integration, configuration, provisioning and error diagnostic easier for servers, desktops and laptops. This leads into higher productivity, more energy savings and reduces complexity.

As of today EnviProt offers a new release of its leading PC Power Management solution Auto Shutdown Manager. One of the new key features is an automated assignment of PCs to the corresponding Power Policy Settings. This mechanism allows configuration based on filters analyzing PC names as well as the Active Directory Attributes. This is very useful especially in bigger organization where hundreds or thousands of PCs must be configured with the appropriate Power Management settings. Now - for example - PCs in administration, class rooms, laboratories, support or sales can be configured with individual startup- uptime and shutdown timings and an intelligent idle analysis.

Auto Saving User Documents

Another new feature handles the automatic saving of users documents before the PCs are shut down. Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Outlook documents are supported now. Even new and title less documents can now be automatically saved into any location. The location can now be centrally configured by an environmental variable. By default documents are automatically saved into a folder on the user's desktop - but now it's very easy to point the mechanism to the users' network home drive for example or any other place. Own and individual startup- and shutdown scripts can be created and added easily to support more applications and additional functionality.

Auto Detection of Power Management Problems

Auto Shutdown Manager now automatically detects problems such as missing or wrong drivers or recent thermal and power supply problems. Identified clients can be filtered and displayed within the Client Overview in the Central Management Console. This makes it very easy to identify and solve such problems now.
