Green Seminar Arranged by ABID Interiors in Kolkata

Kolkata, February 24, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Green seminar conducted by ABID Interiors, was an initiative to move one step ahead towards making our planet greener and more sustainable. It has been a highly enriching seminar held at ITC Sonar on 30th January 2016 where eminent builders graced the occasion by sharing their valuable views on green building, so that people become aware about it.

Ideal Green Building

The ideal green building would be a building project that would allow you to preserve most of the natural environment around the project site, while still being able to produce a building that is going to serve a purpose of promoting a healthy environment for all involved, and it will not disrupt the land, water, resources and energy in and around the building. This is the actual definition of a green building.

The U.S. EPA says “Green building is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life-cycle from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction. This practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort. Green building is also known as a sustainable or high performance building.”

Why change to Green Building?

 When a building project starts, natural habitats around it get disrupted and actually an impact in the wildlife and environment that will be there is very much akin to a butterfly effect happens. Even the slightest changes that occur will help to promote a better planet, and a perfect place for the flora and the fauna. It is important for us to get back to nature.

Green buildings are designed to reduce overall impact on environment and human health by:

Environmentally preferable building materials and other resources are to be used in construction

·         Use of non-toxic, reusable, renewable, or recyclable material in construction and operations

·         Use and promotion of  local / regional materials like

·         Use of local/regional expertise and labor

·         Use of prefab systems to reduce on-site waste

·         Efficient use of landscape

·         Waste reduction

·         Use of Teak, Bamboo, straw, lumber, insulated concrete forms, dimension stone, recycled stone and other products that is non-toxic, reusable, renewable, or recyclable.

·         Materials extracted and manufactured locally and also at building site.
